How long have you lived in Young? 2 years and 7 months
What is the best thing about living here? I like the fact that people smile and say hello to you when you walk down the street and every outing is social. I also love that there are no traffic jams or traffic lights and it only takes five minutes to get anywhere.
If you could change anything about your town what would it be? I have lived in a number of places and I think Young is pretty good. However, it would benefit from more sources of entertainment for the youth of the town. It is great to see the skate park is finally underway.
Why did you enter the Cherry Queen contest? I enjoy being involved in the community, wherever I am. I also enjoy working with others to achieve a mutual goal. I feel that this competition allows me to promote the town and to support a charity that fulfills an important role in the community. I am looking forward to the challenges that the competition has to offer and hope that it enhances my confidence and interpersonal skills.
What is your favourite part of the Cherry Festival? I must say that the pip-spitting competition was a family highlight last year, so much so that we had our own family spit-off. But I cannot go past the market stalls as I love to sample all the local produce, smell the handmade soaps and buy various crafty items. I also cannot say no to the wine tasting, and with such fantastic tasting wines, could you? It’s the perfect way to wind down the day with friends and family. Really I just love the whole weekend.
Where do you hope to be in 10 years time? Wow…I will be well and truly on my to 40 by then! I suspect I will be a mother (of two), possibly married (hint, hint Brendan), and hopefully set up in a successful private practice. Of course there is no guarantee any of this will happen – so we’ll just have to wait and see, and I hope that I enjoy whatever life throws at me.
