How long have you lived in Young
? I have lived in Young all my life.

What is the best thing about living here? Young is a great community which is supportive of anyone’s endeavours, ensuring that they have the ability to achieve them. The determination that the town presents enables growth of the community and guarantees that any major project will be committed to and completed e.g. the Renal and Oncology Units and the local district hospital. It is the friendly and supportive nature of the town that keeps the people returning.

If you could change anything about your town what would it be? I cannot find many faults with the town; however, if I had to change something it would probably be the parking lines in the main street. Sometimes it is hard to navigate your vehicle between the lines particularly when the people that are surrounding you are not within the lines themselves.

Why did you enter the Cherry Queen contest? I entered the Cherry Queen contest due to the fundraising component. I think it is fantastic that we have the ability to fundraise for a charity of our choice and using the profile of a Cherry Queen entrant encourages donors to give generously. Also, being a youth of the town I think it is essential that the youth have a representative, someone whom is approachable and is willing to assist youth in their needs.

What is your favourite part of the Cherry Festival? Definitely the parade!  It has the whole town on for display and for all members of the town to take part- it is the pinnacle of community to me.

A part of your participation in the Cherry Queen contest is to organize a fundraising event, would you please tell us about your event? I am going to be fundraising for the Leukaemia Foundation. As of yet I have not finalised many events as such but there will be a Golf Day Fundraiser on the 30th of October and there will be a raffle of various goods from around the town. There will be other events and I will advertise them once they are finalised.

Where do you hope to be in 10 years time? In ten years time I hope to be working as a Paramedic and hopefully studying my medical degree to become a doctor. I wish to have my own house and have stability financially.
