History and Heritage
Rich in history and character, the area was catapulted to the forefront of
Colonial NSW with the discovery of gold in 1860. This precious metal proved to be
an important catalyst in the development of Young and the surrounding area.

Cherries and Stonefruit
Widely known as the ‘Cherry Capital of Australia’ the area boasts many cherry
and stonefruit orchards, some offering a ‘pick your own’ experience. Highlights
of the year include Cherry Blossom time in September/October and the National
Cherry Festival in late November/early December.
Food & Wine
Young is centrally located in the ‘Hilltops’ Wine & Food region,
increasingly recognised for producing quality cool climate wines, foods and
offering an authentic country experience. Cellar doors offer tastings and sales
of fine wines and quality produce is available in abundance.
